Howdy Hackers! 🤠

The first NEAR Hacker House in Austin, TX was an amazing whirlwind of building, networking, and fun. Our house was THE spot for Web3 community to come together to meet friends, learn about developing in Rust, gain access to mentorship, scope out funding and grant opportunities, and more! Though we are sad to see it come to a close, we are very excited to announce the winners of our Hackathon Bounties!

Special shoutout to our Hackathon Co-organizers, Encode Club. Encode is a web3 education community that helps ambitious, talented people achieve their personal and professional goals. They do this through awesome programs with the leading protocols in crypto, helping people get jobs or raise funding. Learn more about them here.

Bounties and Winners

💠 NEAR Foundation:

This bounty was open to anyone deploying on testnet or mainnet on NEAR.

🏅1st Place: $3,000 — Odyssey Labs + Token List

Odyssey Labs is a portfolio management and data analytics platform for the NEAR ecosystem.

Words from the Odyssey team:

“For the NEAR ecosystem to grow, we need a way to share common lists of data that applications depend on. One important example of this is a shareable list of fungible token contracts that exist on the NEAR blockchain. Other ecosystems do this in a centralized way through token lists on GitHub, which goes against the spirit and open nature of the NEAR Fungible Token spec. This smart contract aims to provide a permissionless way to maintain a list of fungible tokens on NEAR while verifying that the list of contract accounts are indeed fungible token contracts using on-chain functions.

We aim to have this contract serve as a public good for other builders while also utilizing it in our main product at Odyssey: a portfolio management and data analytics platform for the NEAR ecosystem. Using this contract, our users can add new tokens so their balances display dynamically in our dashboard.”

🥈 2nd Place: $2,000 — BTC-NEAR Bridge

Petr Volvnov from HERE Wallet built a BTC-NEAR Bridge, adding the ability for users to buy NEAR for Bitcoin.

Words from the HERE Wallet team:

“During the hackathon we made a contract to unfreeze wBTC and conversion via Tonic on the test pair. We also integrated purchase logic on the iOS app HERE Wallet and made a pipeline for further integration. We made bridge contact, prepared the transaction monitor, and added logic of wBTC to NEAR conversion via Tonic exchange to the app.

To buy NEAR, the user creates an application on our smart contract. Then we activate it by passing the address of the Bitcoin wallet. After activation, wBTC is frozen on the contract to avoid overflow of orders. When the user sends money to our address, oracles can confirm it and unfreeze wBTC. This approach protects users from possible fraud, so if the user sends Bitcoin to the right address, their payment will be guaranteed.”

🥇 4th Place: $1,000 — Hasub2

Hasub2 is a back end tracking system to track a supplier supplying product to a non-profit organization to raise money for the non-profit. The Supplier drop ships the product to the non-profit’s customers directly.

💠 Aurora:

Aurora is an Ethereum Virtual Machine created by the team at the NEAR Protocol, delivering a turn-key solution for developers to operate their apps on an Ethereum-compatible, high-throughput, scalable and future-safe platform, with low transaction costs for their users. Aurora provides Ethereum compatibility, NEAR Protocol scalability, and industry-first user experience through affordable transactions.

🏅1st Place: $3,000 — Clash of the Multiverses

‘Clash of Multiverses’ is a RTS(Real-Time Strategy) game in Aurora chain.

  • At the beginning, stNEAR tokens will be distributed to lands by a genesis drop. If a land has stNEAR, META token rewards will be generated through money lego. We internally accumulate META tokens by leveraging staked NEAR rewards on a lending protocol Bastion with Metapool.
  • A player can acquire a land for 0.01 wNEAR and recruit soldiers for 0.01 wNEAR. Amount of soldiers represents both Combat and Defense power.
  • Each player can attack other lands for 0.01 wNEAR to expand multiverses. The land will be taken when the attack succeeds. The odds of winning are determined by an ‘attack probabilistic algorithm’. In this algorithm, even if a player has more Combat power than opponent’s Defense power, the player might fail to attack.
  • The more land a player has, the more reward the player can claim. Be a conquerer in our ‘Clash of Multiverses’!

🥈 2nd Place: $2,000 — Degen Dystopia

Degen Dystopia is a 16-bit post-apocalyptic P2E MMORPG where players can explore an open world, farm creeps, collect resources, craft items, and fight other players in open PvP to compete for high-tier rewards. Player characters and in-game collectibles are stored as ERC721 (non-fungible) tokens on the Aurora blockchain. Player rewards are issued in ERC20 tokens which can be used for crafting, item repair, healing, and many more usages. High-level Players can also earn ETH (or NEAR / any supported ERC20 token) by staking their PVP rewards.

💠 Metapool:

Metapool is a liquid staking solution on NEAR. Stake NEAR, receive stNEAR to simultaneously accrue staking rewards and unlock liquidity to participate in DeFi activities on NEAR and Aurora.

🏅1st Place: $1,500 USD in stNEAR — Clash of the Multiverse

💠 Tonic DEX:

Tonic is a fast, permissionless orderbook DEX platform on NEAR L1, built with developers in mind. The Tonic team is offered a $2500 prize to teams that build projects that utilize the Tonic SDK or direct on-chain interaction with the Tonic v1 contract. Two projects TIED for 1st place, splitting the prize equally into two.

🏅 $1,250 — Odyssey Labs & Token List

🏅$1,250 — BTC-NEAR Bridge

Thank you to NEAR Foundation, Aurora, Metapool, Tonic DEX for sponsoring the Hackathon and encouraging our community to build on NEAR Protocol. Thank you to all of the builders who came out to participate and show the NEAR community how much talent and potential there is in the blockchain space in Austin. 🌵
